Transiting Neptune opposite Sun gives insights into our true identity, one which has probably been hidden from view for a long time. Neptune acts as a mirror through the other people in our lives, because it is by this feedback in relationships that we learn more about ourselves during this year or two. We may also find that Neptune causes us to project certain ideals or qualities onto people or situations that we might want, but are not actually real. So when our vision does not match up with the reality, events or people let us now. Pluto on the ascendant or within 5 – 10 degrees of an angle brings the god of the underworld’s energies out very strongly in the individual’s lives. The Ascendant/Descendant axis is one of relationship and Pluto rules taboo sex, so this combination is bound to breed love lives that feature anything from; fierce loyalty, deep love, protection, jealousy, secret affairs, possession, obsession, fetishes, bondage, S & M to the very worst abuse, violence, rape and crimes of passion. The subject will embody the raw, dark Pluto energy very physically. Sexuality will be in your face and hard to avoid. They will enjoy flaunting the taboo side of this placement and relish in playing the “Bad girl” or “Bad boy”. The Pluto stare can be unnerving and used as a means to control and dominate. Pluto Sextile Or Trine Ascendant

I was thinking this aspect maybe a Pluto-lite, but actually no. The intensity of the Pluto is still there, but finds an outlet through artistic expression. This comes from the blossoming Venusian sextile and ripening Jupiter trine energy. Where these Pluto buds are blocked for any reason they can turn toxic and seething, resulting in violent tendencies. Like the conjunction the usual sexual magnetism is there, but the darker, kinky side of their intimate nature is not apparent on the outside and partners are often shocked when these sugar-coated sweeties have a hot and spicy centre. The trine has a great capacity for churning up the treasures from deep within Pluto’s mine and creating great wealth. The subject can easily become a workaholic, pushing it self too far and burning itself out. Pluto Square Or Opposite Ascendant

Taboo sex, death, stalkers and spies, yes they are all here as you would expect with the square pushing Pluto’s seething larva to the surface. Pluto is not embodied in the subject like the conjunction. Instead it plays out very strongly in relationships. On the surface this person is nothing like the Pluto archetype, they may even look quite fluffy. It is only when they become sexually involved that their stalking, obsessive, compulsive side becomes apparent, but by then its too late. Their partner is shocked when they wake up and find a great ball and chain clamped to their ankle. When did that happen? It’s not that Pluto in hard aspect to the Ascendant is really that controlling, what has happened is somehow they have seduced their lover into following them so far down into their black velvet labyrinth that they simply cannot find their way out again. In the process they have become so enmeshed with their Pluto partner that severance would seem like a very painful and messy operations. This clamping can work both ways, the subject play either Pluto or Persephone, for while Pluto squares/opposes the AC it also squares/conjuncts the DC. Pluto was discovered in 1930 and was officially the 9th planet of our solar system until Eris was discovered in 2006. When Pluto was born into our consciousness talkie films had just started, TV had just been invented and even the very first computer, the “Differential Analyser” had been developed. The mass media gave us more awareness of what was happening around the world, but negatively it now could also be use for propaganda and consumer manipulation. Advertising became more prevalent. Naming this tiny frozen isolated world after the God of the Underworld was appropriate since the 1930’s were the era of the gangsters, the Great Depression and  the rise of Hitler and the Nazi’s. The Neutron was discovered in 1932 so advancements in nuclear physics gave us the ability to destroy ourselves with the atomic bomb.

Pluto’s potential is just like that nuclear missile; it takes a very evolved subject to use this power wisely. It also takes courage to stare death in the face go with it into the inky black unknown. Pluto is frightening because mostly we resist its wisdom, try to repress it or bury our heads in the sand. All that does is delay the inevitable and means that when this demon does come to the surface, it will be all the more putrid, and unpleasant to deal with. Poo! Oh yes, poo. Pluto is all about eliminating that which is hinders our spiritual evolution. Hard Pluto transits are colonic irrigation for the soul. Use the nice word “transformation” all you want, but Pluto slowly decomposes, so at some point this chemical breakdown is going to stink! This is why we can feel so isolated during a Pluto transit and why Plutonians need to be secretive on occasion. Whatever form the purging takes, it ain’t pretty.

Pluto Discovery Chart

We have a striking Boomerang Yod, this explains why Pluto is so very driven and focused. Once they lock their stare onto a person or a mission it’s 90% in the bag. The Yod pointing at Neptune is apt since Planet number Eight reclaimed Pluto’s “last-stop-in-the-solar-system’s” crown. This outer-limits position does show Pluto’s connection with the occult and spiritualism. Eris sextile Lilith is fitting since it was through Pluto’s experience with Persephone (Eris) he learnt compassion in dealing with the tortured souls in the underworld. Lilith quincunx Neptune speaks of forbidden fruit and the wisdom gained from taking a bite of the apple (or pomegranate).

Pluto is pretty much isolated in the 12th house of this chart, but what is interesting is that he is on Wasat the bridge builder that sits between the Gemini twins. This is his role in helping the dead transit over to the other side. Mercury is strong on the descendant too and conjunct Mercury which brings out his trickster side, Pluto’s ability to become invisible or be a master of disguise. Powering this Yod forward is love. Idealistic, yearning, soulmate love. Venus on Fomalhaut “Secret and passionate love affairs, some restriction in the life, disappointments, easily led astray.” and “The artist or the fanatic; seeing magic in everyday life…to be a dreamer.” This is not really a violent chart, which is perhaps surprising since Pluto is often accused of being ruthless and power hungry. Nature can be violent, but it is not wilfully cruel, like Pluto it just wants to evolve in the most natural way. It is primal, raw and puts on no airs and graces.

Ceres conjunct Jupiter are rather smug in the house of hopes and dreams, they are both on Ain in the Hyades. But “The closer you move towards the Hyades, the more pro-active and controlling it gets. Ptolemy likened the stars in the bull’s head to Saturn and in part Mercury, which could make a dark trickster. Aldebaran can get itself into sexual scandal through greed when it is handed to them on a plate, while Hyades scandal comes from going too far with their stalking and obsessions.” This conjunction is very important as can represent a few things. Pluto’s buried treasure, his capacity for vast wealth, or even innocent Persephone as Kore cosseted by her father Jupiter.

The Moon is on Zuben Elgenubi which is the unfortunate southern scale of Libra (Which used to be the scorpions claw), “Trouble through opposite sex, wrongful accusations, disgrace, ruin, mental anxiety, loss of relatives, many disappointments, much sickness” I think this stems from family sorrow and a tainted upbringing since it’s in the fourth house of the father. Saturn ate his son Pluto along with his brother Neptune out of fear they would destroy him. Seems like Pluto gets the raw deal each time as his other brother Jupiter didn’t get swallowed and Neptune stays the big planet.

Poor Pluto then, the black sheep, the runt of the litter, the bullied one with so much to prove. Pluto looses out on the most obvious, surface bling, but his eventual gains are far richer and profound. You have to dig deep though, hence the Moon at the bottom of the chart. In this chart I like the way the Yod pierces through the earthly barrier of Ceres/Saturn quincunx Saturn, it is like Saturn vomiting back up Pluto and Neptune after he was tricked into eating the stone. He has Sun opposite Neptune “They are prime candidates for projection. They seem to attract wounded and troubled partners who seek in them salvation. They may have supremely idealistic expectations in their love life, constantly searching for that perfect soul mate to make them feel whole.” Sun on Enif in Pegasus shows Pluto’s power of resurrection through the compassion and love. The elusive soul mate relationship of Venus opposite Neptune is part of the trigger too.

Pluto’s Love Addiction

It is important to examine the original Babylonian version of the Persephone myth, two misfits and lonely gods; Eriskhigal (Goddess of the Underworld) and Nergal (God of war and pestilence) fall madly in love and embark on a marathon six day sex session. After this Nergal deserts Ereshkigal and resurfaces back to the upper gods. Ereshkigal goes mad with rage because she hasn’t had enough of him. Through reasoning with the Gods (Like Ceres) she manages to negotiate his return. It’s like the Persephone myth roles have been reversed. Both myths imply a sexual rite of passage and an awakening. The grief of abandonment and loss of innocence triggers transformation. Like Persephone, Nergal had to forsake the luxuries of the upper world, his securities and his status.

Visually I think the chart describes all versions of the myth very well. The Sumarian version has Inanna/Venus descending into the underworld and of course we have Sun conjunct Venus descending across to Neptune. Of course Neptune can be poisons, anaesthesia and addictions also. The Yod could even be one great big syringe piercing through the Ceres/Saturn quincunx. Love is the drug here. That song. “I’ve got you under my skin?” very Pluto. This chart looks like carnal penetration. Saturn is on Facies, the penetrating stare of the archer. Cupids arrow? More piercing. Nothing describes the pain of mourning better than daggers through the skin as depicted in Catholic sculptures of saints and the swords cards in the tarot. Penetrating Pluto rules surgery. The first step in healing is often a bloody cut from the surgeon’s scalpel to take out the festering tumour that is poisoning us.

We are going through a particularly black period on Planet earth so we are experiencing Pluto’s psychic surgery en masse. The dark lord has been retrograding over ruthless Facies at the time of writing in 2012, which have made his transits seem like crucifixion rather than resurrection. In 2014 Pluto moves on to more fortunate Nunki in the archers bow and then onto the less harsh stars of the Lyra after that. Maybe then the secretive one will reveal the heart of pure gold that lurks beneath his steely armour.

The New Moon on December 13 is at 21º Sagittarius and on Ras Alhague, the main star of the rejected 13th sign Ophuichus, the snake-charmer. I see this exiled constellation as representing the Lilith/Chiron archetype, the snake is Lilith and the charmer is Chiron, seeking to distil and tame the power of the serpent. It is the shaman and a constellation most feared because Ophuichus claimed to resurrect and heal the dead.

So there is a regenerating theme with this New Moon since it occurs a day before Mercury re-emerges from the Underworld (the retrograde shadow zone.) That’s not all, we have a shadowy Dark goddess theme also with Lilith conjunct Jupiter the apex of a Yod on Aldebaran. A holy war fought by women? To cap it all, this very dark New Moon is trine the warrior queen Eris by just 5 minutes! More militant females then.

I had already talked about the implications of this Yod in the Mercury Retrograde post. “The thinking is magical and symbolic however, so perfect for manifesting those dreams. Mercury trine Uranus is visionary and of course a Jupiter Yod has BIG dreams that Saturn can help crystallise.” This is one of those extra rich, dark cherry Moons where you can relish in being uber-gothic, melodramatic and melancholic. It’s all icy mists, haunted stone castles, long black velvet capes sweeping across cobbles and Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue”.

New Moon Horoscope

The New Moon is conjunct the asteroid Hylonome, she was female centaur beloved of centaur Cyllarus who committed suicide to join him in death when he was wounded in battle. This Moon will highlight then how much and what we will sacrifice for our dreams. Are we deferring too much for the future? Or is it worth being “Waity Katie” (Middleton) if the long-term rewards are so great. So yes with this New Moon we really will feel like we are in the bleak midwinter  (symbolically if not actually)  in terms of having to wait patiently before we can plant our seeds. This is the time to till and fertilise the soil. Just like the Mercury Retrograde was spent formulating the blueprint, this month will be spend planting seeds of thought in those around you, by talking and getting them excited about your plans. It generates an energy.

New Moon aspects

The New Moon trine Eris will work in a similar fashion to Sun trine Lilith “They will usually stand out from traditional society in some way by being outsiders or making unpopular decisions in their life. But although they may exhibit quite eccentric behaviour they still seem to be able to bewitch the public with their magical aura, gifted at making quite gruesome things palatable and acceptable.” I also think this aspect can give medium-ship ability since this Eris is comfortable with other realms. And Moon trine Lilith who “ can be particularly susceptible to being led astray by its libido, sometimes falling for the most unlikely and unsuitable partner they can drag out of the gutter. If they are not the villains themselves then they most certainly find themselves attracted to one. That someone will then play out their suppressed naughtiness for them.” Judging from the celebrities who have Sun or Moon trine Eris. I find she seems to be as above but with added Mars and Uranus. This outsider Moon will bring Dark Goddess energies to the collective and the bring out the activist, renegade, Kali side of Lilith.

New Moon on Ras Alhague

Ras Alhague has a rather dubious reputation, but as I found out when looking at those celebrities with the Sun and the Moon there it wasn’t all “mental depravity” and “perverted tastes”. But the Sun did fare better than the Moon, which suggests the more conscious this energy is, the better. The danger with this star is if the subject is made to feel ashamed of or repress its qualities. When Ras Alhague becomes the shadow, then we are in for trouble. The Yod seems to be saying, make this shadow conscious; look at you really riles you. Where it is pointing could be highlighting where you are most likely to experience your shadow and what they may look like. Of course the Lilith/Jupiter conjunction could be the counsellor/priestess who highlights this demon for you, pulling out the darkness from the Saturn sextile Pluto.

The Sabian symbol for this moon is “A Chinese Laundry”. This is a menial occupation, with many people working together in cramped conditions, on the lowest rung of the work ladder. Symbolically this is cleaning up for others. There can be snobbishness in looking down at the scum or the underclass. This is where the shadow can be projected, at the lowest of the low, the scavengers. But these cleansers perform a valuable service, without them industry would collapse. Just as in nature, we need parasites, flies, and worms to break down and recycle matter in order to transform. So this Moon is about having to start from the bottom, not being too proud to get down and dirrrty in the mud. It is about stripping down Pluto style and showing bare face butt cheek. Getting grass roots experience is important just like you need to have a strong enough root chakra to support the crown.

Lilith conjuncted Jupiter for the first time in 33 years, on the 8th of December 2011. Now we have this aspect again on December 12 2012 at 10º Gemini on the archangel star Aldebaran which highlights it’s strenght. Lilith follows Jupiter in a wide conjunction for most of 2013 so this what can these two learn from each other?  Lilith Conjunct Jupiter brings together two apparently opposing forces in western culture. Lilith and Jupiter share sex and religion in common. Jupiter was the insatiable chaser of nymphs while Lilith is also accused of being insatiable. However with Lilith, her apparently greedy sexuality is vilified and seen as destructive somehow. Instead of a congratulatory slap on the back she is labelled a succubus and a nymphomaniac.

The same double standard goes for the religious aspect between them, Lilith’s magical ability is branded as witchcraft, but for Jupiter these powers are just an example of the divine miracle of his godliness. Lilith like Jupiter has a hunger for knowledge and mind expansion, indeed it was this desire for wisdom and the passing on of that sacred knowledge that caused Eve to be booted out of paradise.

Lilith conjunct Jupiter gives an insatiable, ravenous sexual energy but also a real need for those physical relations to be tantric. Sex for Lilith/Jupiter has to bring one in contact with the divine which is similar to Lilith/Neptune. But where Lilith/Neptune is fantasy forming, yearning, unrequited and ultimately celibate, Lilith/Jupiter, has to be very, very physical. So we are talking total body, head-to-toe ecstatic orgasms that blow your mind to kingdom come.

If this aspect is cannot be channelled into sex, then it becomes a very zealous approach to spirituality. They may have an unusual, far-out belief systems that forces them to have to justify their brand of religion. The most obvious religious cause with Lilith would be the advocation of women priests and the ultimate archetype of Lilith/Jupiter of course, a female Pope! I ran a chart for the appointment of the legendary/mythical female Pope Joan. [1] There is not enough evidence for this to be a trustworthy event, but it is interesting that we had a mean/true Lilith sextile Jupiter (60’) for date of the death of her predecessor.

What can expect from this conjunction this time? New discoveries and playing god seem to have come up at the last one, plus the expansion of wisdom in the form of information technology. The Sun is still within orb of being on Ras Alhague in the Lilith constellation of Ophuichus. This constellation like Eris and Lilith was the unlucky 13th sign that got left out of the zodiac on the ecliptic. This parallels the 13th disciple Mary Magdalene who also was left out of the bible and relegated to “whore”. This Lilith/Jupiter Yod remains active for the presumed date of the end of the Mayan calendar December 21 2012. Where Jamie wrote “At best we may see the raising of global spirituality to a new level of acceptance and understanding. The Full Moon on January 27 is at 7º Leo 24′ and on the fixed star Praesaepe in Cancer the crab. It is also known as “The Hive” with all the little stars functioning as the worker bees. The Full Moon is conjunct asteroid Ambrosia, the food of the gods that confers immortality. This full Moon is the honey that will help soothe that sore throat we got from singing our heads off at the January 11 New Moon in the Lyre. If we have had our heart or pocket burnt by a trickster then we may be tempted to withdraw back into our crib and self medicate with tubs of ice-cream (or worst..). But this moon will not allow you to indulge for too long, there are an abundance of aspects to the Full Moon sweet enough to lure you away from the  comfiest of sofas.

Moon conjunct Ceres is super-mum, the ultimate in matriarchs, the Queen of Pentacles and the Empress archetype. This does not necessarily mean he or she is particularly maternal however. For even if they do happen to spawn many children they may actually be quite distant and not that physically affectionate or close to their offspring. They mother their friends on the one hand but may not be friends with their children at all. Their parenting style is that of practical, material care that demands respect. They rule their house very much like the Queen Bee and expect their children to defer to their authority. They come across more like the nanny than the mother, and as such are immune “pester power” from their children. This bleeds into other areas of life where they are seen as firm but fair in their negotiations. They are not easily swayed and will stick to their principles no matter what. Moon conjunct Ceres is the matriarchal version of Sun conjunct Saturn. At best these can be the wise elders who pass on their wisdom to their young and who serve as respected mentors. Their command may seem overly strict, but it is also a true case of tough love. They get very positive results where others have failed, through patience and pragmatism.

Ceres does have a shadow side however, as Ceres/Demeter who mourned her daughter Persephone’s abduction. So there is some sorrow attached to this aspect since the Moon is so sensitive to pain here. One may have experienced absence of the mother through death or through her being focused on earning her “pentacles”. There is a priestess/herbalist side to Ceres, so if she is not a hard core materialist then she could place a lot of her energies into healing the world; She could be an ecologist, healer, charity worker, busy hostess or caterer. The mother’s values are a strong influence on the Moon conjunct Ceres child and gives them a strong work ethic. If they have had an extremely possessive or smothering mother, they may go to the other extreme of being very spartan with their own children, hoping that it will toughen them up and make them independent and not needy or clingy.

Another strong possibility with this aspect is the development of food issues. This could be anything from being a health food crank, a very picky eater or at the extreme end possibly suffering bulimia or anorexia. Moon can be bad habits and Ceres represents the grain (beer), herbs (marijuana) or the poppy (opiates), so there can be the risk to addictions to alcohol or drugs. Of course this could be turned around into a healthy obsession if they become a master chef or a herbalist. If they do not have a drug problem themselves they may be attracted to those that do. Picking up waifs and strays is also a tendency of this aspect. Moon conjunct Ceres can be a “mother” to those from broken homes, adopt the most needy in society and want to mend those that are severely damaged.

Madonna is a good example of someone who we would probably not consider a typical earth mother, but has experienced many of the above themes. Madonna lost her own mother at a very early age to breast cancer and as the oldest of six became a substitute mother to the rest of her siblings. She has very obviously amassed a great deal of “pentacles”, and her priestess side is seen in her exploration of different religions and her conversion to Kabbalah. She is also very obviously became a Queen Bee to her male dancers (Waifs and strays.) many of whom came from broken homes and needed to look up an substitute parent figure. Madonna tends to go out with younger men to whom she becomes the wise elder and also the priestess who initiates them sexually. She is known to be fiercely anti-drugs, but she is not without her addictions. Fad diets, exercise regimes, and probably sex addiction to name a few. Ceres as an aspect of Persephone explains her self-confessed attraction to quite Plutonic “macho” type guys. Her sexuality addresses the taboo. She has explored mixed-race, toy-boy and bi-sexual relationships which she featured in video’s such as ” Like A Prayer” and “Justify My Love”. As far as her role as an actual mother goes, her inter-racial family includes her two children from two different fathers and controversial adoptions of a Malawian boy and girl.

Retrograde planets are a popular topic in astrology and there is some controversy about the general meaning. For example, Vedic astrologers see retrograde motion as a beneficial influence, while Western astrologers focus on the negatives, such as lost baggage or missing mail when Mercury is retrograde. At Darkstar Astrology we do not adhere to any strict rules about retrograde planets, but prefer instead to interpret each retrograde phase based on the aspects and fixed stars from the beginning to the end of the retrograde cycle (the shadow zone). “Retrograde” literally means opposite or reverse, so a planet in retrograde motion appears to be moving in reverse. Planets do not of course move backwards, and the apparent reverse motion is due to the elliptical orbits of the earth and planets. Regardless of the astronomy, the main point is that from where we stand, planets DO appear to move backwards from time to time so we should expect this to have some astrological affect on our lives. Generally we feel the energy of retrograde planets in a more introspective or reserved manner than usual, and there may be a karmic theme or feeling of deja vu depending on the nature of the planet.

Marina here now. I just wanted to add that the feeling of deja vu may also be because the retrograde planet will go over a certain degree three times over. People who experience this feeling strongest will be those who have a key planet or angle at this spot. For example; Ones IC is hit three times and you are looking to move home. Hit 1 you may see the house you want to buy, hit 2 (Retrograde) may be when you have to go through surveys and making sure everything is fine to buy it, this will mean re-evaluating finances, whatever you have to do you are always double checking, hit 3 may be when you finally get the go ahead to move and the issue is resolved. Retrogrades give us the chance to really get our teeth onto a matter, because we are forced to go over old ground again and again. This may get frustrating and tedious, but ultimately it is very useful, for tackling something karmic we may have been avoiding and that we have to address once and for all.

2013 Astrology Forecast

2013 continues the intense revolutionary changes and karma burning started last year. However later in 2013, Jupiter, the planet of growth, luck and optimism will be there to bounce us back with renewed hope after the tougher moments. The first big aspect of 2013 is Saturn sextile Pluto which we had a taste of on December 26 2012. We get this again on March 8 with Saturn on fixed star Acrux in the Crucifix. This proves to be a very important constellation this year. “It gives religious beneficence, ceremonial, justice, magic and mystery, and is frequently prominent in the horoscopes of astrologers and occultists”. But it can also be the cross of burdens and hardships.

At times this year you may feel crucified by it all, but somehow rise and rise again… Saturn with god of resurrection Pluto, makes for a very stoic, determined and tenacious energy. Those decan 2 Capricorns and Scorpios will find this gives them superhuman powers to withstand any storm. To a lesser degree all decan 2 Water and Earth signs get steel-plated backbones in 2013, they will be the world’s industrious worker bees, building the foundations for our future.

The biggest transit of the year is still the Uranus square Pluto, which gives us two more revolutionary hits. May 20 and finally November 1 when the spinning stops. Before that in May though, dashing Mercury on fixed star Aldebaran “speaks out against evil. They may swing between sinner and saint and have the archetypical Mercurial talent of switching abruptly between conflicting principles.” Religious conflict is rather obviously the theme since Aldebaran is so very zealous, promising to finally remove all that stubborn Underworld Pluto scum that has been building up for years.

Eclipse Astrology 2013 – May & November

The grand finale on November 1 has a dramatic Scorpio Stellium between 7º – 13º which happens to be a hot spot for two eclipses (May and November). This stellium in a minor grand trine and part of the Yod to Uranus. Phew! I think the six months between the eclipses will be the most dramatic of the year. Religious uprisings or revolts against the church start up in late April with the extra Lunar eclipse that falls on fixed star Gacrux, the constellation Crucifix. So we cannot avoid this crisis of faith. The November 3 Solar eclipse falls on fixed star Mimosa, still in the Crucifix. November 23 Jamie wrote that we get the heliocentric Uranus square Pluto T- square with Jupiter opposite Pluto “our faith is going to be tested, as will growth and prosperity. The focus of the planetary aspect pattern is on Uranus – radical change and higher awareness.”

The November 1 chart; Uranus square Pluto has a Yod pointing at Uranus “on the fixed star Algenib which makes one a “reformer or agitator”. But the revolutions should be constructive rather than destructive with the influence of the minor grand trine. The North Node on Gacrux, an eclipse degree, so this faith in a higher power is always there. This holy trinity of Saturn (The father), Sun (the Son) and Mercury (The Holy Sprite) in the crucifix provide a focus to the chart and they are powering the Yod. They look like they are pulling back a bow, (Pluto still on the star Facies, the penetrating stare of the archer) with Mars on Zosma playing the Virgo saviour, no longer victim with powerful Pluto helping. Be brave and take action decan 2 Aries, Capricorn and Scorpio. You stand to benefit most by this period if you stand firm and not bail out, otherwise you might find Decan 2 Knights of Virgo jump in at the last minute and take all the credit!

Summer of the Grand Trine

In between the tough and crusty bread of eclipses we get some creamy trines, which will give us a respite from all the exorcising, soul bending yoga and crucifix bearing. We ease into them with Saturn Trine Neptune. It promises to turn your dreams into reality. BUT as Jamie wrote; “this does not necessarily mean the most ideal manifestations…. If your dream is slaughter and mayhem, then this transit should work just as well for you, as it would if your dream is to start an organic community garden in your neighbourhood.”   A joyful, wishful June 11 and July 19 then, especially Decan 1 water signs and to a lesser extent Decan 1 earth signs.

The highlight of the year is a magical grand trine on July 17. Planning a wedding? This is the day.  It will be wonderfully romantic and  Saturn will help crystallise wishes. But keep in mind trines are about “being” not “doing”, so don’t waste this golden opportunity by blissing out too much. In the mundane world, Jupiter trine Neptune brings social justice and the urge to show compassion in sensitive human rights cases. There is understanding between different cultures and the ability to think philosophically. We have spellbinding Lilith conjunct Jupiter as part of the trine, which is good for women and their influence in both conventional and “New Age” type religions. Lucky decan 1 water signs get energised the most by the huge optimism generated here and can help motivate the rest of us. But anyone with a personal planet or angle between 2º- 6º should benefit greatly from this as well, even by square or opposition since you will get a balancing or karmic adjustment from another part of that grand trine. So great all round for mind expansion and spiritual bliss. A nice change from self flagellation then..

Healing, Balance & Adjustment

The Jupiter trine Saturn part of this healing aspect pattern repeats on December 12. We have Jupiter expansive, daring, skies-the-limit thinking tempered by Saturn realism, caution and hard work. It is a fantastic leveller. One can plan the future and co-operate easily with others to do so. Decan 3 Water and Earth stand to make the most gains here, but anyone with personal planets or angles at 18º Water/Earth can also. Saturn is on the lucky Northern scale of constellation Libra, which bring financial gain. Hopefully the money markets will reflect this optimism.

So Libra’s scales repeat the theme of balance and justice being done. Therefore this period is great for negotiations, peacemaking, operations that involve adjustments, accounting and investing. Jupiter is on Wasat, the builder of bridges, in between the Gemini twins, more diplomatic influence here and a promising period for peace treaties worldwide. Jupiter’s active influence, along with the constellation of the crucifix, puts religion and our beliefs top of the agenda for 2013. Beliefs are SO very important, as they do shape our reality. We have already had enough of the economic gloom and are exhausted from Uranus square Pluto’s relentless push for reform. Jupiter allows us to say “F*** it!” once in a while and just take off with a vision. Even if you have lost everything, you still have your dreams.

The Full Moon on January 26 is at 7º Leo 24′ and on the fixed star Praesaepe in Cancer the crab. It is also known as “The Hive” with all the little stars functioning as the worker bees. The Full Moon is conjunct asteroid Ambrosia, the food of the gods that confers immortality. This full Moon is the honey that will help soothe that sore throat we got from singing our heads off at the January 11 New Moon in the Lyre. If we have had our heart or pocket burnt by a trickster then we may be tempted to withdraw back into our crib and self medicate with tubs of ice-cream (or worst..). But this moon will not allow you to indulge for too long, there are an abundance of aspects to the Full Moon sweet enough to lure you away from the  comfiest of sofas.

Full Moon Aspects

The Moon aspects form part of a complex aspect pattern known as “The Cradle” in esoteric astrology, which links together two minor grand trines with Jupiter sextile Uranus forming the base of the cradle. “If something unpleasant approaches, this person can just switch over and is suddenly protected by an invisible wall from criticism or attack. It reflects others opinions back to them like a mirror and appears untouched by them” [1] This is interesting since another name for Praesaepe is “The Crib”. The constellation Cancer where this star cluster resides is also regarded as “The Gate of Men” where souls descended from heaven into their human bodies. The sign Cancer is associated with mothering, the womb and her nurturing breasts which are also relevant to this full Moon.

Moon sextile Jupiter “These people will always support their roots though, no matter how far afield they voyage…Jupiter licentiousness and lunar bad habits can spill over into drug or sexual abuse, either given or received, but generally Moon sextile Jupiter is luxuriant, erotic, sensual and has a huge appetite for sex.”

Moon trine Uranus “brings an abundance of radical and innovative energy into the public eye. The trine energy brings to fruition personal freedom, revolution and electric genius…. Even though this is supposedly harmonious trine energy, we still get some challenge with this aspect. Having such strong courage of ones convictions will often provoke criticism, fear and even envy from the establishment.”

Moon sextile Jupiter speaks of indulgence and lapping up the ambrosia but also warns of fixating onto the halcyon days of childhood. Moon trine Uranus however pulls us out of the rut of being stuck in negative infantile behaviour patterns.

Full Moon Meaning

There is symbolism for this Moon being some sort of a birth canal. But there is also a strong theme of ambrosia, honey and the connection between the mother through the breast milk. Praesaepe gives ” a craving for and abuse of stimulants, luxury foodstuffs, narcotic, drugs and heavy smoking.” [2]. Babies crave the sweet milk of the mother, which is their ambrosia. Our craving for comforting drugs transports us back into that symbiotic, at-one-with-the-universe feeling. Mother = Matter. Sucking a cigarette, like sucking the nipple, brings us back to that blissful cradled state.

Jupiter Sextile Uranus is the base of the Cradle and fuses this whole complex aspect pattern together, it is the key to avoiding the pitfalls of this comforting crib. Since the cradle forms a kind of interface between between life and death, it also connects us with our dream world. So it is a portal to other dimensions. In the cradle we are trusting and believe in good in all things, the problem is being too naive and clinging to its protection too tightly. The challenge for us all as human beings is to take off our crabby shells and stop relying on “Big Mummy”, the state, to support or protect us. Conversely the Cradle is asking us to have faith in a non-established, non-material form of support. Jupiter Sextile Uranus is the creative merging of science and spirituality it “has such a natural exuberance and zest for life that it attracts luck and positive energy to it constantly. This aspect thrives on change, novelty and new inventions.”

This is a potentially a very soothing, loving balm of a Full Moon. The aspect pattern of the cradle is like a sponge that absorbs mankind’s negativity, reflects it back to us in such a way that we do not get defensive or frightened, but actually can see what we need to work on. This is the “good cop”, the tactful nurse and the patient teacher. We find ourselves coerced out of bad behaviour because there is the promise of the pot of Ambrosia at the end of it.

Star Praesaepe & Asteroid Ambrosia

Praesaepe is technically a star cluster that the ancient Chinese named ” The spirit of the ancestors.” The cradle aspect pattern shows there is spiritual sustenance to be gained from past generations here. Since Praesaepe is “The Hive” and Ambrosia is closely related to the gods other favourite food nectar, honey is a great symbol too. Ambrosia promises ageless immortality to those who partake of it. Ambrosia is fragrant and like honey is often used to mask the bitter taste of medicine or smooth away the rough edges of life. Honey is also anti-septic and fermented honey known as Mead was regarded as an entheogen in the Aegean world before alcohol was used. The connection of honey with immortality is interesting since the use of “Royal Jelly” in modern times is regarded as an anti-aging treatment. Ambrosia’s general meaning is simply something pleasant to taste or smell, but going deeper we find that this honey is associated with enlightenment and creating your own bliss through meditation.

We have had some intense eclipses, harsh moons and the Jupiter/Lilith Yod that have left us rather battered and bruised at the end of 2012, not least the fall-out from 2012s Uranus square Pluto hits. I guess by now, there are a few people left reeling from what did, or did NOT happen on December 21 2012. This Full moon then is just what the doctor ordered, here to mop up the carrot-spewed remnants of the 2012 New Years party. The Sabian symbol of this Full Moon is “A Communist Activist Spreading his revolutionary ideals”. This speaks of an old order having to make way for a new dynamic youth, reflecting the exciting Moon trine Uranus energy. Obviously this is the start of the year too so we are feeling that new fresh 2013 air breezing into our consciousness with the hope of the new. Before we can illuminate and start working with these new insights, the Sabian symbol reminds us that there may be a stage of chaos where the old “cronies” need to be removed quite forcibly. The “cronies” maybe infantile behaviour that has been inherited from past generations. But don’t throw the baby out with the bath water, these traits can be replaced by others from your more wiser elders. One doesn’t need to disinherit the whole family, just weed out the bad apples.

The death of a young girl a result of a brutal gang rape has India in mourning. The psychiatry student was pronounced dead at 4.45am in a Singapore hospital Saturday 29 2012 from severe internal injuries. Sadly this is not uncommon in a country that reveres it’s Goddesses, but yet up until 1983 it was still legal for a man to rape his wife. Rape cases in India have doubled between 1990 and 2008 according to official figures and a high percentage of these are underage.

Samar Halarnkar for the Hindustan Times states “Men abuse women in every society, but few males do it with as much impunity, violence and regularity as the Indian male.” The title of the article is “Death Of Kali” where he also details that if women do not stay within their male prescribed humble limits then they are become the perfect prey for abuse “If Kali – the goddess with the big attitude – lived among us, she would be an especially tempting target.”

India Horoscope

If one looks at the chart for the Independence of India it’s very interesting that Eris, the western Kali archetype is rising and conjunct the North Node. Mars opposite on India’s south node. The male/female polarity, and a fair deal in marriage is obviously something that India needs to address in order to evolve. Eris in the mix just highlights the importance of equal rights and the discord which is surfacing as a result of the imbalance. Mars is strong on the marriage house, at worst this is violence towards spouse on self-sacrificial, dutiful fixed star Porrima in constellation Virgo. It is also poignant that Vivian Robson has this star as listed as Caphir “An Atonement Offering” and “The Submissive One”. Referring to this title, Eric Morse says; “The Arabic title Caphir (infidel) no doubt springs from the Islamic revulsion of pagan goddesses”. Mars on this star also gives trouble with the opposite sex and marriage partner. This area of the zodiac can demand that the female make a personal sacrifice in order to benefit her husband.

There is a Yod to Ceres from a wide Moon conjunct Lilith ” This combination has to successfully merge the paradox of the virgin and the whore or the very worst manifestation of Lilith can surface. There will be a glorification of the feminine. In unenlightened men this can veer to the misogynistic, as they detest feeling so beholden to the devouring mother. They can alternate between worshiping and then abusing females”. Ceres is of course the ultimate Mother and amplifies the mother/whore complex, and the quincunx from Moon/Lilith shows this country has to work on some karmic adjustment in this area. Uranus is the final piece of the jigsaw, freedom and liberation in the domestic environment (conjunct the IC) is called for. Last but not least we have the Sun square Moon which very obviously shows in plain terms the challenging dynamics between the men and women of India.

Delhi Gang Rape Horoscope

We have a precise time for the the horrific incident. On December 16 2012 we still had the Lilith conjunct Jupiter in a boomerang Yod which has already claimed the deaths of young children around the world. Jupiter/Lilith extra powerful on archangel star Aldebaran. We looked at the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting chart and the MC of that chart was conjunct the Solar Eclipse degree 22º Scorpio. Unbelievably the IC of this chart is also on the eclipse degree which was on the Kundalini/Lilith star Unukalhai. Some of it’s key words ” controversy, activists, feminists, protesters, vehemently pro or against, shocking deaths, abduction, domestic violence, wife beaters”

Mercury (Children) is in the heart of the Scorpion on the intense and sometimes vicious star Antares while the Sun is on the poisonous stinger of the Scorpion Lesath which I classed as one of the Psycho stars. That toxic Sun opposite Ceres ” There can be an over-idealisation of the mothering role, in extreme cases this can lead to misogyny in men. Ceres opposite the sun can be ripe for exhibiting the virgin/whore syndrome in certain men. In the case of women, the whore is projected onto another woman”. It was also the day of the Venus square Neptune which is another aspect that can put women on a pedestal. Venus was on Toliman, “Relationships to female persons often seem spoiled… Disturbances, riots, periods of storm and stress and revolt against curtailment of freedom.”

Wherever you turn there is something nasty in this chart. There is a build up of intense and powerful aspects, that on their own would probably not do too much damage, but together and in the wrong hands are a recipe for disaster. Pluto as part of the Yod was on Facies. The South Node on Algol and as I already mentioned the IC on Unukalhai, all stars we have covered here at Darkstar astrology due to their notoriety. Lastly Sedna on the MC, The Magi Astrologers regard Sedna to be the epitome of evilness ” Sedna symbolizes.. products that promote violence and or emotionless sex. Sedna is so insidious that it helps nobody.. Sedna will eat the person alive.”  There is possibility for this life not being lost in vain. For Sedna I wrote “The lesson here is not accepting being the victim, turning the situation round and turning an extreme negative into an extreme positive.”

Moon trine Lilith “brings an abundance of charm and charisma to the personality that is extremely persuasive. This not only shows how amazing astrology can be, but also I believe it is good proof that the 8:02 am birth time is correct.

Another striking point of interest is Hillary’s natal Chiron placement at 12°16′ Scorpio. In the hospitalization chart, the Imum Coeli (IC) at the bottom of the chart is 13°48′ Scorpio, conjunct her Chiron which rules wounding and healing. Chiron in the hospitalization chart is at 05°59′ Pisces, conjunct her IC (05°07′ Pisces). One more double whammy and I would say absolute proof we have her correct time of birth.

The New Moon on 11 January 2013 is at 21º Capricorn and on Sulaphat in Constellation Lyre, the little harp. The Moon is conjunct Mercury which falls on Vega, the beautiful Sapphire star in the same constellation. This makes the harp a strong influence for the month ahead. Lyra is obviously musical, but can be an alluring liar as I discovered when I looked at its fixed stars. Mercury’s influence on the new moon also brings out more of the trickster and its also conjunct Asteroid Ottilia named the patron saint of eyesight. Are our ears deceiving us? Are we blind to what is in plain sight? This Moon is telling us never mind what the harpist is playing, and the sweet nothings that are being whispered in our ears. Seeing is believing!

New Moon Aspects

Moon conjunct Mercury; “Thoughts are things and this person could conjure themselves up a beautiful domestic arrangement if they can focus on their dreams for long enough… The Moon can be quite clingy and stuck in the past while Mercury is flighty and ever youthful. This is a great time however for purging out your dark side through some art form or venting your spleen playing a musical instrument.

Mercury on Vega gives extraordinary story telling abilities, a boon time for creative writing, spin-doctoring, eloquent speeches and witty lectures. If you need to tell one big whopper of a lie, do it today! Unless your prey is very cunning themselves, you will be believed! It’s easy to overlook blemishes when a violin makes us tearful. They are not called “Fiddles” for nothing. Music can sway us very powerfully. You are looking at the sea; “Surfin USA” or the soundtrack to “Jaws” , which is going to make you want to swim?

This new moon will make us question some of our senses, but it allows us to develop ones we don’t usually use in compensation. For magicians, tricksters, advertisers and spin-doctors this is a boom time. If you have anything to pitch, use this time to sell it. You will be able to sell ice to Eskimos, but are liable to suffer frostbite as soon as the seductive soundtrack starts to fade.
